In the heart of beautiful Messinia

Hotel Estia is situated in the province of Messinia which is tucked away on the southwestern tip of Greece. Just 45 km from Kalamata, Finikounda boasts long sandy beaches, rolling hills dotted with olive groves and endless sunshine.

Finikounda is off the beaten track, yet is strategically located for those who want to mix up their time relaxing in the sun, swimming in the Ionian Sea, eating fresh fish at the local seaside tavernas and visiting ancient sites. Near here:

  • Methoni
  • Koroni
  • Pylos
  • Navarino Castle at Pylos
  • Nestors Palace in Hora

A photographer's dream

Roads in every direction from Finikounda await the adventurous. Sights to explore include: Mycenean tombs and catacombs, natural wonders like Schinolaka and Polilimnio waterfalls in Kazarma and protected lagoons like those in Gialova.

Finikounda's beauty is certainly equal to the islands, but it is nowhere near as commercialized. As described in the travel books, Finikounda is still very much a working, farming, fishing village.
